SHOPIFY IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
The Shopify platform gives you the option to upload images in many shapes and sizes, which can be overwhelming. So how do you know which size is best to upload? There are three key things to consider when uploading images to Shopify:
How much space the images take up on the screen
The dimensions and number of pixels
The overall file size of the images
The Shopify platform allows you to upload images of up to 5000 x 5000 pixels with a file size of up to 20MB. However, too many large files can impact the speed of your site, particularly on smartphones and other mobile devices.
In general, 2048 x 2048 pixels is a good option for square product photos, as it offers a good balance of image quality and website performance.
SHOPIFY IMAGE OPTIMISATION
In addition to the considerations mentioned above, you also need to consider image SEO (search engine optimisation). As well as crawling the text on your page, search engines also crawl your image file names. By using relevant descriptive keywords, you’ll help your product photos to rank more highly on Google and other image search engines.
